Pilates
Joseph Pilates developed his system of floor work and spring-based apparatus exercises in the 1920s. His ambition was to create a set of exercises that work the body from the inside out, leading to a deep structural fitness method.
Focus is placed on breath, alignment, concentration, controlled, precise and flowing movements. It is an effective exercise system for physical conditioning, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Pilates builds co-ordination, strength, improves flexibility and joint mobility through slow, controlled movements and proper breathing.
Movements are without impact to maintain flexibility and strength without the risk of injury. With the use of the Pilates equipment, a range of exercises can be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.

Pilates for Parkinson
Honouring the memory of my beautiful father who had Parkinson’s for many years.
He Peacefully passed away in February 2022 after his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was my inspiration and ‘poster boy’, representing those with Parkinson’s Disease.
He loved to do Pilates and loved being the face for ‘Papa does Pilates for Parkinson’s.
Never declining an invitation to exercise or to be recorded on his sessions. He said he wanted to inspire others just like him.
He loved to keep mobile and fit. When he was able to, he loved to walk 2 or more hours each morning as his regular exercise and fitness regime. Being fit and outdoors was important to him, it kept his mind and body at peace. He also enjoyed learning about meditation, I often encouraged him to take 5-10 mins of self time and just sit in quietness. I know this eased his mind and nervous system.
He was a dear and humble man , worked hard to care for our mum and supported all us four kids. Working hard as a painter and decorator, good old fashioned hard labour.
A fighter and inspiration to the very end, both mentally and physically . We kept dancing together until the end didn’t we Dad . Music gave him rhythm and his body and heart would love to dance.
Thanks for the life lessons dad, your genuine care, your love and your zest for life inspired me. You will forever be in my heart

I know your soul lives on and I will honour your wish to continue to help and support those with Parkinson’s disease and those with special needs.
If you or a family member have Parkinson’s and would love to trial Pilates and movement for yourself, sessions are available live or online
